In Northland there are only five properties with a Qualmark five star rating in the 'self contained & serviced` grouping. Qualmark is New Zealand tourism's official assurance agency. It provides the only internationally recognised, independent assessment of tourism products and services in New Zealand. Qualmark looks thoroughly at a business before it gives a rating. Areas that are assessed are buildings, grounds, gardens, parking, interior décor, furniture and fittings. Other areas they look at are cleanliness, service and hospitality, safety and security, customer satisfaction and overall business practices.

Owners Rob and Raewyn Wilson are proud of their achievement: "It's been a year now since we opened Sanctuary Palms, and it has been a busy year. We've had lots of guests staying, we built a new office, added another waterfall, and altered the driveway to secure easier access to the three apartments. We are over the moon that our efforts have been rewarded with the five stars."

Comments in the guestbook back the qualmark rating:
"Exquisite, won't be able to recommend highly enough" - Cecilia & Darren Johnson, Australia.
"Luxury at its best" - Mark & Tracy Weber, England.
"Brad didn't want to leave. In fact he might be still here. Check the cupboards...." - Linda & Brad Hazzard, Honululu.
